Jazz dance concentrates on style, technique, formations, combined with the characteristic movements. Jazz dance training helps to develop or improve timing, speed, strength, agility, and coordination.
Rachel began dancing at the age of four. As a child she competed regionally and nationally traveling around the United States receiving top awards and scholarships. Rachel received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Missouri at Kansas City with an emphasis in Ballet and Modern. She was also a member of the dance team at UMKC. Over the years Rachel has held the title of President and Vice President of Heart of America Chapter 28, Dance Masters of America. She is certified to teach by test in all areas of dance and is a Dance Masters of America National Certified Examiner. She owned her studio for 10 years and is still teaching at local studios in the Kansas City area. She professionally performed nationally and internationally in performances such as The Nutcraker, Nick Cave’s Sound Suits and Encore Dancers Inc. Cancun Mexico. Rachel’s choreography has won top scoring awards through the years. Her students have held many titles, scholarships, professional dance careers and are studio owners. Rachel integrated the fine art of dance into a Kansas City Charter School, creating a dance curriculum for her students, Pre-K through 8th grades. She has adjudicated and taught convention classes for the dance competition circuit over many years. Rachel truly loves the art of dance and loves to see student technical progression.
