Jazz dance concentrates on style, technique, formations, combined with the characteristic movements. Jazz dance training helps to develop or improve timing, speed, strength, agility, and coordination.
Chelsea Shaffer teaches Lil Crew, 4-5 combo, 6-8 combo, 9-teen combo, Rec Hip Hop, Supermini/Mini Crew, Ballet, and Mega/Junior Crew. She also teaches and choreographs for our competitive dance crew.
Chelsea has been dancing since the age of 4. She competed in tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, pointe, ballet, and hip hop until the age of 18. Chelsea was also on the dance team at Raymore-Peculiar High School. She went on to pursue a career in dance at the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment at Oklahoma City University.
During her time there she performed in the American Spirit Christmas Show, spring shows, student choreography shows, and was a dancer on the dance team. In her senior year, she worked at the Community Dance Center as the front desk staff and dance teacher. Chelsea earned a Bachelors of Science in Dance Management from the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment at Oklahoma City University, along with a minor in Business Entrepreneurship and a minor in History.
She has been teaching dance to children ages 2-22 for 5 years. Chelsea is so excited to be sharing her love of dance with so many young dancers! She looks forward to a successful 2021-2022 dance year with CJ Dance Crew!
